Ladybugs Help out at the Zoo
Here is a great video illustrating how ladybugs are used as organic pest control at a Mesker Park Zoo, in Indiana.
The ladybugs are released and they will help to take care of a variety of soft-bodied insect pests that are inhabiting the zoo.
Being a zoo with many living creatures, they can’t use pesticides and ladybugs among other little creatures are a great natural pest control.
In invertvals they have 9,000 to 18,000 ladybugs delivered from a New Hampshire company called Green Methods. They harvest their ladybugs from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
Ladybugs that are not used are stored in the refridgerator. To learn more about ladybugs used for pest control visit our ladybug pest control page.
