Hitchhiking Ladybug
This morning my daughter and I were preparing some vegetables from the Farmer’s market to give to our 2 bunnies. I took out some carrots that still had the greens attached at the top and laid them on the counter. Right away my daughter said “Mommy what is that red?” as she was pointing at the carrot. I looked down and saw a little seven spotted ladybug laying on the leaf! I looked closer and could see the ladybug was clutching a little insect cocoon of some sort.

We soon realized that she had traveled quite a long way! She survived being picked from the carrot patch, thrown in a box, riding all the way to the farmer’s market, then we of all people (LOL) picked out that particular carrot bunch and put her in a cooler with our other produce whick stayed in our car for about 2 hours while we went to the grocery store and back home. Then she hung out in our refrigerator for 4 days before we found her!
We took some pictures of the sweet little ladybug and then put her outside where she started moving around once the sun warmed her up! And all the while she was still clutching that little morsel of food that she had probably been thoroughly enjoying when she was so rudely interrupted in her carrot patch!!
